Halving

Halving is a predetermined event that occurs on a blockchain network at regular intervals and results in a 50% reduction in rewards for proof-of-work miners. On the Bitcoin blockchain, “halving” is when the rate of new bitcoin creation is cut in half for every 210,000 blocks mined, or roughly every four years. Halving will continue until all 21 million bitcoins are in circulation.
