Orphaned Block

An orphaned block is a block validated and recorded by miners but not accepted as part of the main chain. Orphan blocks typically occur when two or more miners compete to find the next valid block at roughly the same time, resulting in one miner adding their new block to the main chain while another’s work is left behind (orphaned). The creator of an orphaned block usually abandons it and starts mining on top of the most recent valid block to receive rewards.
