Initial Exchange Offering (IEO)

Initial Exchange Offerings (IEO) are a method of issuing cryptocurrency tokens in which a company releases its own cryptocurrency to attract investors. This process differs from an Initial Coin Offering (ICO), as the token sale takes place on an exchange rather than through the coin team. For a time, coin teams popularized IEOs because they allowed for listing on exchanges at launch. IEOs were also perceived to be more secure for investors, given that the currency was already tradeable.
